
Every year for years, I would write out my new year resolutions, which according to Wikipedia, is a tradition, "where a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life." For most, resolutions do not work and here is the reason why. If it is a habit that you are trying to change, you have to change the habit with a positive habit with discipline and purpose. The reason my resolutions did not work for me, was because I just had a list of things I wanted to change but didn't have the discipline for positive change or a new habit and positive habit that I was changing the old habit into. After I learned the S.M.A.R.T. goal method, I learned how to attach the habit to a goal to achieve a better outcome and results. While I don't create resolutions anymore, I do continue to create S.M.A.R.T. goals.
