Transition

Transitions can be hard… for everyone. Whether it is transitioning from a job to another job, or from a relationship that was dear to your heart, or the loss of a loved one, they all have some level of discomfort. The change that one undergoes in transitioning can also bring fear as you are forced to step outside of your comfort zone to move forward. Starting over, manikin jumping from old to newIam someone who is very routine and comfortable in my routines so much so that when I am thrown out of my routine and comfort, I am not a happy camper.
I’ve recently gone through my own transition where I went from full time employment to full time self-employment.  There was a lot of emotion involved. First there was excitement. The beginning of a new adventure. Then the hard work starts to kick in and a new emotion arises, stress. As I am getting over the hump of all of the work that I have put in and I can see the trees for the forest, another emotion kicks in, uncertainty.  As I continue through my transition and the range of emotions, I can see my transition from a different perspective that is no longer daunting. Having the holistic and spiritual background helped me to see my own crap differently and allowed me to move forward with confidence. It takes some time and reflection to move through a transition such as that but it cane be done.
Most people are uncomfortable with change and this can lead to resisting it and not moving forward. NUBODI provides Spiritual Guidance to those seeking answers from a holistic perspective. Sit with an ordained holistic minister and certified spiritual advisor who offers a spirit centered confidant session to gain understanding through reflection.

Holistic health care & the economy

The economy is rough right now. Everyone seems to be feeling the crunch. One day the market is up and the next day it is down. Our financial institutions are going to come crumbling down one day. Even though things are bad and times are rough, people are still spending. Spending unnecessarily and frivolously but spending nonetheless. But very few are spending on their health. So many people were in an uproar about the health care reform, saying this and saying that but what are people REALLY doing for their health on their own?

Getting clients for me, means I am constantly in people's faces trying to convince them that holistic health is the way to go. The main gripe that I get from people is that it cost too much to eat healthy. Well for a family of four at a fast food place, it will cost over $25. However, that $25 could buy frozen fruit to make smoothies for the family in the morning. The other chief complaint was that they didn't have the time to incorporate the things they needed to live a healthier life. Jane is an emotional shopper. She buys shoes, handbags and clothes more than three times a month to make her feel better. Instead of shopping that often, Jane could have a Reiki session to help her understand why she shops when she is emotional and to help her deal with that emotion.

Imet a potential client at Starbucks.  I had their fabulous green tea with zero calories, zero sugar, that cost me $1.50 for any size I wanted. She had a venti vanilla latte with 2% milk @ 320 calories and 43 grams of sugar. My potential client gulped down her vanilla latte as she proceeded to tell me why she could not "go alternative" right now.

There are plenty of life style changes that one can make that will not break the bank. Living an holistic life style is a proces and a journey. Start small. Instead of coffee in the morning, try herbal tea. Don't have time during the day, try waking up a half hour ealier to run, walk or meditate before starting the day. You can work with a holistic health and wellness coach or a nutrition consultation to help you prioritize and organize your life to incorporate healthier choices and adjustments.

Emotional Baggage

I received an email from one of the psychology organizations that I belong to regarding a course on how to help get rid of "Emotional Baggage." It got me to thinking about some emotional baggage I was carrying around several years ago and how I got rid of it.

Years ago, I was told I had to go to anger management if I wanted to keep my housing. Well since you put it that way, I guess I had no choice BUT to go. After a couple of sessions with the therapist, she says, I think you need Prozac and I want to refer you to a psychiatrist. HUH?? Where did that come from? On what basis do you have to recommend me to a shrink? There were no tests involved and the questions were vague at best for her to come to that conclusion. As I was thinking of my topic to blog about today, I saw on my time line that Deepak Chopra had tweeted about Michael Jackson's death. He said "the doctor's are the real pushers and cause for addiction." I thought.. WHOA. So I must be on track to discuss this. As I read more, he went on to say how doctors are so quick to prescribe something. Which brings me back to my point.

Emotional baggage does not always require drugs. Yes, I get that some people need to talk it out and perhaps get a better perspective on some things that happened in the past to move forward but still there are ways to do that without drugs. I told my therapist that I was good, and did not want the drugs. I continued my sessions with her for little while longer. However in retrospect, I was telling her the same things I was telling my girlfriends and wasn't getting anywhere with any of them. To me, talking about it and talking about it was just reliving the pain. She didn't give me any goals or things to move me forward. Just talking about the same things over again. I eventually worked through my issues on my own through holistic means. It was a lot harder for me on my own but an experience that I can write about. Through the use of herbs, prayer, meditation, essential oils, crystal healing and body work therapy such as Reiki, I was able to free myself of some limited beliefs, other people's assumptions that I had picked up a long the way and some other Gremlins that followed me through my life. I am not suggesting that holistic medicine is the cure all to end all, but it does help. You can use holistic medicine in conjunction with anything conventional that you are currently doing. Releasing emotional baggage is a process. It can take days, weeks, months or even years to get through some of the issues you have been carrying around for years. However, it can go a lot quicker using a holistic approach. For an issue that may have taken me years to get through using conventional methods, may have taken a year using ALL means available to me.

Out Finding Myself

"Sorry we have to break up, but I have go off and find myself." "This job isn't working for me, I think I need to go find myself." These are all statements we've heard before or know someone who has said it to us at some point. What does that REALLY mean? Are you lost? Of course you are. We all are or were at some point in our lives. Some of us choose to STAY lost and blame others for their miserable lives. Others enter into relationships knowing that they are lost, in hopes to find themselves through the means of the person they are with. Those are the ones that are so content in the world that they live in, that they are afraid to reach for the greatness that is within because of fear. Then you have those that know they are lost but want to be found. Like me.

Finding one's self means finding one's TRUE AUTHENTIC self. It requires honesty about where you are. It requires some work. I'll admit it is NOT always fun but I promise it is a rewarding experience. As you embark on that journey of self-realization, you start to see things differently. Seeing people... and the world differently. Like you took off a pair of rose colored glasses and can really SEE. The clarity in it all is brilliant.

I was at a conference and a man said to me, "Who ARE you?' I started spitting off my well rehearsed spiel of "I'm a holistic health practitioner, life coach, educator, jewelry designer, blah, blah, blah." He politely waited until I was finished and then said, "NO, that's what you DO... it's NOT who you are. WHO ARE YOU?" I looked at him like... HUH? I'm confused. I don't understand the question. A lot of the time we get caught up in the WHAT of what we do that we lose sight of the WHO in who we are. I had to sit with this for a minute. Actually it took me a long time for figure this one out. Through my own coaching with The Worth Coach, I was able to understand who I WAS and who I was becoming. Yes, a coach uses a coach. Finding a coach is just the beginning. Staying on the journey is a life time.

Life coaching is a general term used to encompass everything in life. Holistic Life Coaching is defined as coaching a person through their life in a holistic and natural way. Many people beginning their journey, just need a boost. Some assistance from a coach who can point them in a direction towards their greatness.
